The ALA bases their recommendation on a “lack of data” and “only one study being available”. However, there are 11 documented clinical studies on electronic cigarettes that they have failed to take note of. They have chosen to only recognize the study done last year by the FDA. Even though the FDA’s study showed nearly identical ingredients to currently approved smoking cessation products, the ALA wants to keep smokers away from e-cigs until more studies are done.

It is widely recognized that tobacco smoke is the common killer in cigarettes, not necessarily the ingredients themselves. When combustion takes place during inhalation through a cigarette, that is when the carcinogens are created and the tobacco becomes deadly. If you remove the combustion factor, it is a no-brainer to realize the safer element of a product like electronic cigarettes which basically are using theater smoke to recreate the effect of smoking without its risks. In fact, it is already documented that an electric cigarette is 1,400 times safer than tobacco cigarettes. Still, the ALA blindly leads smokers away, encouraging them to return to their deadly devices.

This is not only completely inappropriate, it is a disservice to the public whose health they are supposed to be protecting. Who is challenging the FDA? We know who is standing for them, regardless of their mission statement and long-standing reputation for accurate truths. We hope that this behavior does not continue and will continue to keep a keen eye on them.

Recently, at the twitter water cooler;

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks, and being the observer that I am…I wonder about the truth to these so called gossip, and rumors…

How do you know when it’s a blown out of proportion partial truth or an out right lie?

You don’t!

OR DO YOU?

One thing that I know is this;á somewhere in gossip, rumors or inconsistency of stories, there is some truth to what we hear.

“hey did you hear about______?”

No one just randomly starts a lie, or makes something up out of the blue. OR MAYBE THEY DO???

It comes from somewhere, it comes from a source.

The person, company, politician or celebrity that is being outed will usually say things like “get your facts straight” …and the most commoná “Look at the source it is coming from?”

inquiring minds want to know so, Where DID you hear that?

If you heard it at your hair salon, at your local bar, you can be pretty much bank on it’s truth…

bartender’s hear it all too, get some booze in people and all kinds of juice, comes out of them, when they are “juiced!” people in general tend to agree with the rest of the world, that these above resources would probably be very true…

being in the hairstyling business for well over 30 years…and the ex husband of 18 years was a bartender, then turned hair stylist and salon owner with me, could REALLY confirm both! ……..at least in his experience….

hair salon gossip, the bartender, and the water cooler is where you will find the good stuff…or maybe, I should say “bad stuff”

The truth about it all…? We all like to hear about the “news” and we want to be the first one to share the news…

Now don’t say YOU don’t!!! Its natural, normal, AND its human nature.

DO YOU want to be the FIRST to know something…or the first to announce something? …The first to share something?

Just go on twitter, that water cooler isá a,á who heard what from where, and who… Kinda place…

however, the investigators of truth use a thing called “search” you can find out exactly what and who people are talking about with alerts and #Hashtags you can keep up on anything, and any topic or person..

There is “google” search…have you ever wanted to do a name search on someone on google just for the heck of it? or even searched YOUR own name? Then you took it a step further, and did a background check?

Or YOU wanted to do that? Maybe you have or haven’t…Maybe you care, or none of it matters...to YOU…bet your bottom dollars (no twitter pun intended : : spam : : scam= money) others do care, and want to know!

So have you done a back ground check on someone? maybe someone is applying for a job, you just wanna see “if” this person has a “past”á ; -)

RIGHT…

Curiosity, again, human nature! Wanting to hear the news, yet at times not wanting to… its in our face everyday, in many ways…

Twitter news is instant, its live, its liver than live! It is live unfolding open, very open conversations in real time…yup… “the as its happening kinda news!”

inevitably WE hear about bad news,á nasty gossip, the opinions of others, and maybe good news…

get your up to the minute news first… at “the water cooler…!”

{Newbies and Experienced Bees}

Years ago, I used to wonder how true it would be that we would be in a communication world where people could ditch the telephone and speak with others through a computer. How would it work that we would to be able to see the person you are speaking with?

Really, back then I thought it would never happen, at least not in my day! It has, it is here…and quite frankly I am amazed and amused by all of the technology and communication tools we have available to us.

Without dating myself too much, going from a rotary prone, with a telephone cord, to cordless, and touch tone phones was pretty cool to watch unfold. Technology, and communication was evolving all around me.

But this whole entire computer thing and cell phones really astounded me…how was this all possible?

Well much like the light bulb, or the television, it doesn’t matter how or why…it just matters that I know how to turn both of them on and off!

What this post is about is “Basic Online Communication Programs for Newbies” and others who have yet to learn more about it, or just haven’t taken this step into learning about it, or using it…

The main reason people aren’t using these communication tools or the social networking sites is because the simply don’t know how. People are often intimated by anything new, or people feel “stupid” for NOT knowing, therefore they don’t ask, or go researching it themselves.

Often I hear things like “I don’t need those things, or have any desire to use them”

Yes, you do…admit it…secretly you wish you were one of the crowd, and you wish that you could speak of these with confidence in not only knowing what they are but which communication programs you use today to communicate with the world! (or maybe you really couldn’t care less, so skip this post go read something else!)

By now Most everyone has heard about twitter. Oprah uses it, Obama uses twitter, celebrities, and your neighbor is using twitter.

Yet, many people still wonder “What is Twitter?” or “What is Skype?” …again, we see Oprah using it to conduct interviews and other television news channels using skype.

So, not sure about all of these communication programs, where to find them or how to use them?

Let’s assume you are real new to the computer, you are a newbie online!

You’re not alone. There is no doubt when you are starting out on line that everything is simply overwhelming.

It can really get to you. However, it is like everything else that is new (which is everything when it comes to today’s technology!)

You might know some stuff; you may not be confused at all, you just need a little more direction.

Do you wish there was an easier way to learn things, or do things on line?

What would it be like if you could ask the questions you have, and get the answers within minutes?

How would you feel if you could ask any question about the Internet, the computer, or whatever it is that you need to, or want to know without feeling like your asking a stupid question?

If you could ask anything you wanted and get help with anything you needed no matter how big, or small, would that take away the overwhelming feeling that you have?

Twitter, Skype, social networks everywhere, are available 24/7~I learned most of what I know BECAUSE of these communication tools and networks of people.

If I told you that just over 2 years ago, I did not, know what a browser was, or what copy and paste was, or even how to check my e-mail, would you believe me?

We all started somewhere! So ~it doesn’t matter if you are 5 or 55~ everyone is a Newbie when they first come on line.

::Everyone is a newbie:: when it comes to setting up a MySpace page, Facebook or learning how to use some of the newer social networking sites…. like “Twitter” (yes, I agree all weird names!)

If you are new or if you don’t know how to use something, or you just don’t get it, it’s OK…we all ~had to learn.~

So, ya…might as well learn it now, get with the program…because we are going to be using these and many more “futuristic” ways of communicating.

If you have not yet done this, now is the time!

Go to; http://www.myspace.com and open up an account with Myspace.  Don’t be concerned about content or putting anything up at all other than your name!

When you are asked to put in a user name, I would suggest using your own name. Using your own name is a good thing for many reasons, which we will get into later.

If for some reason your name is taken then add a number or an underscore to your name.

Like this;  Jane_ Joe …to do an underscore, that little line in between your name, which is not a dash (-) you simply hit shift on your keyboard and hit the dash (-) button at the same time and you will have an underscore _ like that.

Of course you could use a dash in between as well. I just find it easier to use your own name consistently so you don’t have to remember the user name on each profile. (hard enough to remember passwords)

The other benefit of using your own name is that people will be able to find you. and who know’s like many others you maty want to create a business, or business profile.

Don’t use or put some cutesy name in, or some lame hero’s name, and then have to concern yourself later with changing it!

So for today, go ahead to all of these sites mentioned below and set up an account! They are all FREE to join and you can fill them with content later! Just click on these highlighted links and they will take you straight to the pages to sign up. When you click on these, a “new window” will open.

When you are done with setting up your first account do the same for the others.

(Hit the “x” in the upper right hand corner) You will get right back here again to sign up for your next account!

I recommend that you have a Gmail e-mail account, even if you are using something else like Hotmail or Microsoft Outlook mail. It is always a good idea to have a second email account. I would recommend you use Gmail as your primary email account. (we can go into the reasons for that too a little later)   

Instant Communication Chat Program {Skype} video, text chat, and phone…

This instant chat is a must have! There are many,”chat programs” available like AOL, MSN, Google Chat and others.

This chat instant messaging service is a must have and I would recommend using it over any other… or in addition to others

If you are already using an instant messaging service then that is OK, you can still use it. However, if you want to use it eventually for business, or if you need to get a hold of myself, or others who are there to help you in real time, then this is the one you need to get!

I still use the older version of skype, not the new 4.0, I simply find it works better FOR ME!

When you open that account go to the “add” tab (contacts) and add my id;  karin.hiebert another box will open, other names and karin’s etc, will come up… but there will only be one karin.hiebert…just click on my name and I will be added…

Take a look around, and check out the tabs, menu etc. so you can see what is there and the functions…

you will see when you click on my name in your contacts list, a “chat box will open”  in the box at the bottom, just type something in, and hit send or enter… I will receive your message in instant time… chances are you will get a response from me, because I am most often online. (I have no life!)

It’s really funny, as an “observer” I have noticed that a lot of these big programs, courses, Internet Guru’s have finally realized that there are more of “us” than there is of them… and other experienced online computing tweeping people! [for newbees I have posts for you} but, read on... you might be able to relate... if not... "get ready" cause you will find out...

I mean really, most people coming online today want to learn "how to use the computer" they just came online with!

They do not know what a browser is! {At least I didn't!}

Or about how to, or where to do a keyword search for markets,,, they don't know the first thing about what to do online... or where to do it... and these marketing molesters are all over them...

They are in email, they are in your face, the second these peeps sign up for a facebook or a myspace... these guru's are trying to tell them they need a business...

Some have never thought of ever having a business in their lives,,, nor have they come online for a "business opportunity" {ok, so,,,maybe some have...} and yes online business is a good thing...

but initially is that WHY they come on line? It wasn't on my mind when I came online!

And I had an OFFLINE business!!! I knew BUSINESS...

But coming online wasn't for a business...in my case anyway....who knows maybe you are different..chances are, you are!

And oh, yes... twitter... some are buying computers, iphones or laptops simply because they think "it's time to get online" because they "heard" Oprah is on twitter and twitter is everywhere...time for them to finally take the leap, and get into the 21 century.

These new innocent, socially friendly people, who are perhaps "computer challenged" or tech, know challenged like I are being attacked by "marketers"...

I don't care how many times you hear, or you learn as marketers at ANY level that you don't show them "your product" first, or your program etc...to "Build a relationship"

You are still giving off that scent, that stench of "I will get you" you have that look in your eye, in your tweets,,, in your emails...

its about "getting" its all about your "getting people" come on....let's, let people come on line, and enjoy the ride, learn some things for themselves,,, stop accosting these new people...

Big boys and girls who want to learn "how to do something" know how to search youtube and google and if they don't they will learn, like I did...!

They will find you and yes, they will get on twitter... ... step back,,, relax... let people come to you...

Stop throwing your crap at them before they are ready... ok I am rambling... but then it is 420 and past 4:20 ; )

Advocate of many important and highly relevant worldly type issues... and proud of it...!

Stop throwing YOU, OR yourself [and your new crap...] at people…STOP looking for the next niche product you could create for this new market coming online…

maybe treating people like people instead of “markets” might work for you too… give it a try…

And no, you are not the “expert” yet, and neither are they, don’t “position yourself as a leader” when clearly you are not…and stop teaching people to do that too…unless of course they are leaders, and experts in their field…

and if they (or you) are not experts,,, then become one… FOR REAL!!!

Don’t give us all the same spiel, please don’t tell us you are going to show us how we can get loads of traffic, and tons of leads and make a 250,000.00 a month,..

when you have not done it,,, or when we don’t even know what a lead is!???

Countries as well as individuals compete. The Hairstyling Teams consist of 4 Stylists and a spare. There usually is a Team Manager, a Team Trainer, a Makeup Artist and a Fashion Stylist.

Countries from all over the world compete in all categories at the Hair Olympics to win the Hair World Championship! This Hair World also has some great presenters and educators taking stage to present new Hair Trends, and Displaying the technical skills on the “How to Create The New Upcoming Hair cuts and Styles”

Hair World is an opportunity for Hair Suppliers, Distributors and Manufacturers of Hair Products to display the latest in Hair and Beauty Products.

My first experience with Hair World was in 1978 in Dusseldorf, Germany. I had flown myself and 2 great hair models out to compete in the Individual Category (not on the team) and managed to place in the Top 10 with both of my models. I was fairly new to the hairstyling business and was 19 years of age.

I did try to make Team Canada at the team eliminations in Windsor, Ontario, didn’t make the team, but was ready to go give it a try and compete in the  individuals. I knew I was certainly not going to win the World Championship, but I knew I could do well.

My hair cutting skills were top notch, and had recently returned from attending the Vidal Sassoon Advanced Hair Academy in San Francisco. We placed 9th overall in the wold championships and I couldn’t have been more excited.

9th Place was good enough for us! The next 2 weeks in Germany was party hardy!

The reason I am writing this post is to share with people about our exciting hair industry!

Hair is an art form, and hair business is recession proof!

It’s one of those businesses where you can take your tools and open up shop, or work anywhere in the World, by simply packing up a few tools!

I have met some incredible people from around the globe through being in hairstyling, and from hairstyling at this level.

Today, I still meet from all across the globe. Hairstylists have come online, and brought their businesses online, or have simply created some great sites where they showcase their work.  Other hairstylists networking and exchanging ideas, photos, videos and more. It’s just as exciting today online, as it is offline. The connections and friendships made are life long wonderful relationships with some of the top hairstylists in the world.

Sun lightened, high lighted, Colored, and NATURAL HAIR (no hair? Wear sun screen!)

If you are going to be in the sun, and bleaching your hair out, from any color…it can be from a natural dark blond to an already chemically treated or naturally dark hair color… then you will need to go the extra mile in conditioning and looking after your hair! If you are “Super Bleaching your Hair” or even slightly highlighting it, then you know the way it feels.

You know that your hair has a completely different texture to it than it ever did before. (In addition…With every touch up, and re- lightening, or bleaching…)

“Your hair has a completely different texture to it than it ever did before!”

With every 4 to six weeks (or even a few times a year) of bleaching, lightening or highlighting your hair it is becoming harder to manage.á (this could even be naturally sun-bleached hair, or “chlorine bleached hair from swimming”)

Super bleached hair to mildly bleached hair, whether it is done once or repeatedly will absolutely change its texture with every bleach out…bleaching will change the hair’s natural elasticity and it will change in “appearance” I don’t mean just as in appearance by the change of hair color, I mean in appearance condition, shine etc.

Before you can fix or manage a problem…

We need to get to the root of the problem... no pun intended…

Here is what happens when you bleach hair;

You are breaking down the hair structure, and its natural composition…The bleach needs to open the outermost layer of the hair which is called the cuticle and then the bleach needs to work its way into the cortex layer of the hair where your present color is “stored” so to speak…bleach opens up the cuticle layer like a piece of cake!

If the scientific answer to hair chemistry or on how hair, actually does lighten, or change color does not interest you… skip this part… or come back to it lateráá

Once the bleach is inside the cortex layer of the hair, it needs to break down the hair color molecules...

there are only 3 colors that all of our hair color is made of… and those are; Red, Yellow and Blue…more on another upcoming post…it is cool how this is true for hair colors or colors…period…

An easy way to understand hair color is this;

Natural red hair has majority of red molecules, next a few yellow molecules, and lastly very little… (*like next to no blue (absent of blue) color molecules.)

Regardless of the color of your hair, the colors in your hair are made up of colors, which consist of three primary colors.

Another good example would be black hair. Black Hair Consist of mostly blue, lots of red, and very little, if any yellow. All depends on how black, or dark…I think you get it…

Blond hair consists of a lot of yellow pigment, very little red, and almost no blue…

No matter what color your hair is right now, with the exception of extremely bleached blond hair, or “super bleached hair” …the hair and hair color did have all of these color molecules in them…if your natural color at the “root” is any darker or differentáfrom the bleached area, then the regrowth, consists of the above hair color pigments.

Child Molesters and Marketers have so much in common. …not saying all marketers are child molesters, I am speaking to those who are…and to those who have been, or are presently being molested…

You COULD BE the exception. YOU are the professional marketer, or a guide, coach etc. …mentor of many. You truly care; YOU truly are out there to help…you know who you are, and what positive influence you have in peoples’ lives. Yes, there are professional caring, marketers, mentors or coaches.

You probably know…if you fall into the “child molester” category.

The child molester marketer is slick (lets go with he, even though there are a lot of female sickos’ too!)

• He watches, listens, and is very aware of his prey. He knows exactly who that person is.
• When he finds you, he knows exactly what to say and do, because it has worked for him in the past.
• He distinctly knows the “type” of person he can manipulate-
• He is slick, sly, and will offer you “candy and castles”
• He will make you feel very special, you are the “chosen one” -you are special
• He knows exactly what to say and do, to make you believe him, trust, and even love him

The child molester / marketer will look for those who are struggling through life, those who desperately need or want the attention (because no one else has given them what they needed)

The molester has no intentions of simply hand holding…his objective is to rape you.

He will take advantage of you in every way he can. It is about his “satisfaction” not yours.

The molester will destroy your self-esteem and your confidence. He will “brainwash you” into believing that you cannot do anything without him. He is bigger and better than you are.

He will make it very clear to you that…

1. If you told anyone what was really going on, that no one would believe YOU!

2. He will make it very clear… that if you told, “no one would love you.”

3. He will deny it all.

Does this sound a little like someone who uses people, his power, or his mind to manipulate and control others for his immediate gratification? (and ongoing gratification/ satisfaction?)

Does this person care about you, or your life? Does he care about your future?

What about his own future…does he believe that he will he will ever be caught?

Answer= NO…because so far no one has “told” …after all, who would believe YOU? Chances are you will be the one who is blamed…YOU WILL BLAME YOURSELF…for not saying “NO”…or for allowing IT to happen to you!

You believe this is entirely your fault, “you” let it go on for as long as it did…and you do feel stupid, responsible, and SHAME…After all. You should have known better…

Guess who wins? It is time to speak up, and out these child and marketing molesters! Trust in this…YOU WILL BE SUPPORTED…because there are a lot more of “you” out there than you WILL and could ever imagine.

This is one of those “hush-hush” taboo topics, never to be spoken of…it exists, we all know it…people would rather not hear about it, talk about it, or DO anything about!

Coaching is about moving you forward, encouraging you to do more and be more…coaching is about helping you become your very best, and do your very best…It is NOT about him, it is all about YOU!
